- A roof survey with slopes, party walls and chimney positions

- Submission to Hackney and replies to the case officer
Where Hackney has removed Class B
Hackney’s Shacklewell Green direction covers April Street 1 to 14, Perch Street 1 to 25, Seal Street 1 to 36 and Shacklewell Lane 97 to 129 (odd). It removes Part 1 Classes A to H of the 2015 Order, which includes Class B, additions to the roof, and took effect on 22 October 2019 (Hackney Article 4).
For example, a rear dormer on a Perch Street house is an application from the start, while one on a similar terrace elsewhere in Hackney may still fit Class B if no other direction or condition applies. We read the schedule against your house number.
The other conservation-area directions
Brownswood, Beck Road and Well Street have directions that remove rights for alterations within the land around a house, small works and minor construction, and renewable energy systems, effective from May 2025 (Hackney Article 4). De Beauvoir and St Mark’s also have directions that do not cover every property (Hackney conservation areas).
Hackney’s submission page links a validation checklist for householder applications (Hackney submission). Hackney decided 223 of 247 householder applications inside 8 weeks in the year to June 2026.
