Our drawings and submission paid to us£439
Measured survey paid to us£150
Council householder fee paid to the council£548

We charge £589 in total. The £548 is paid to the council when the application goes in, and the survey is charged once if you later order building regulations drawings for the same house.

Gidea Park: level 1 or level 2

Havering made an immediate Article 4 direction for Gidea Park on 31 December 2015 and confirmed it on 24 June 2016. Its notice lists addresses under two control levels. At level 1, enlargements under Class A are removed to the front and sides of the house; at level 2 they are removed to the front, sides and rear (Havering Gidea Park notice).

So two neighbours on the same road can start from different places. For example, a rear kitchen extension at a level 1 address is controlled by the usual Class A limits, while the same project at a level 2 address is an application from the start. We read the schedule against your house number before we draw.

Other Havering conservation areas and the checklist

Havering has 11 conservation areas. Besides Gidea Park, its page lists Article 4 directions at Havering-atte-Bower (satellite dishes) and Cranham (gates, walls, fences and other enclosures) (Havering conservation areas). Planning applications that an Article 4 direction requires used to be free, and since 17 January 2018 they carry a fee.

Havering’s householder validation checklist asks for a heritage statement where a conservation area is affected, plans to an identified scale, and sections annotated with site and floor levels (Havering checklist). Havering decided 558 of 571 householder applications inside 8 weeks in the year to June 2026.
